London
based painter Kristine Khan trained at Glasgow
School of Art and Central St. Martins School of Art
and Design and from the early age of 16 has been a
successfully commissioned painter.
Kristine's quirky portraits shy away from
the standard
"sitting" perspective. Spending intimate time with her
subjects she aims to find the person behind the
person, capturing off guard moments from ‘sleep’ to
‘pleasure in a park’. Her long stays in India and
Mexico have helped to give her work a folk influence
and a play between the symbolic and the real. Kristine
has married an ethereal quality to a highly accurate
precise style, creating a hypnotic real dreamlike
quality to her portraits.
Her paintings have attracted the attention
of art
collectors, musicians and actors in the UK, whom have
occupied her time with many private commissions.
Kristine has exhibited in solo and group shows in the
UK, most notably at the Scottish National Portrait
Gallery, Edinburgh. |
